WARBY PARKER.
My saviors, my light, my eyes, my soul. Warby, freaking, Parker. There are so many words that I have for this company I have decided to make them my first style post. It's really worth it. Over the years I have followed this company and spent countless hours on their website trying to decide what 5 frames I want for my home try-ons. I have been following them for a while actually, ever since one of my friends in college did the home-try on herself.
Glasses made a huge statement with this hat and a fresh fade a the LOOP Mega Mixer this year. They're the Durand frames if you want to stop reading here and just get the spoiler.
AND I was really not the most comfortable with the stache decision, but the glasses actually helped me be more confident with it.
EYE LOVE YOU.
I dont know about you, but over the years I have had an absolute horrible experience with glasses. First of all, I have the largest head known to man. No seriously, I'm pretty sure the doctors were worried I wouldnt be able to lift my own head at one point. So finding glasses that actually look good on me is pretty complicated. If youre a guy you may know the struggle, because glasses and sunglasses are made so small for men for some reason. SECONDLY, I have learned to call myself The Destroyer Of Everything Dainty. I have managed to sit on so many sunglasses/glasses, if I started a graveyard for every broken pair, I could give Arlington a run for their money. I just BREAK THINGS. I have big, meaty man-hands, and I have this awful habit of sitting on my glasses. (I feel strongly about this)
They are sturdy too, these glasses dont play. (My pun game strong today)
So what appeals the most to me about these glasses with Warby, is their price range. I couldnt believe that I could literally buy a pair of perscription lenses for less than 500 dollars. I remember paying 500 dollars for my Raybans at the Target Eye center, and literally not even liking them that much. AND Not only are they affordable, they are more sturdy than almost ALL the frames I have ever owned. They're quality without the hassel of breaking the bank. Its Champagne on a Beer Budget. Which is my life motto, please feel free to put it on my tombstone when I Pass.
ALSO another huge part of my life is making sure that I am supporting companys who stand for things that I agree with. I really strive to be a part of companys with heart, and to donate to those causes that not everyone can SEE on the regular. (See what I did there? SEE that I did it again?) So Warby Parker appealed to me because not only do I get to look amazing, BUT I get support non-profits like VisionSpring who help people get access to affordable eyewear. I mean how many people think about that? Very few I'm sure.
EVEN with this hair disaster. (Going to be doing a blog about this tragedy. Never go to a student for this drastic of a change)
HOME TRY ONS VS THE ACTUAL STORE.
This idea of a home-try-on really appealed to me. Above, I mentioned getting me getting my 500 dollar glasses and not really liking them. I didnt realize that they wouldnt really go with my wardrobe. they had black and silver, and I dont really like silver accesories. (Gold Queen: Isle ME) So getting to have 5 frames at my home and put on all my outfits with them was a HUGE plus. AND you can wear them out in public. So those daring cirlce frames that I couldnt bring myself to buy seemed a little more appetizing with the public response that I was getting. Not to mention, its FREE. AND I LOVE FREE THINGS. They even give you a return shipping sticker. Like I can not stress how lazy I am, so if I can do it with ease than you got me sold.
BUT I still wasnt convinced. I would order the home try-ons and fall in love with all of them. Want all of them. Fight myself to even return them. I just couldnt decide honestly. There were 5 great pairs, that all looked good. So when i moved to Texas I finally heard about the ACTUAL store in Austin. YALL... I die. It was heaven. all the frames that I drool over online are in my hands. I literally was walking around the store with 10 frames in my hand. The workers were probably stressed, but I was like a kid in a candy store.
All that the light touches...I can see with my beautiful Durand frames.
I CAN SEE CLEARLY NOW.
Happiness. Pure Happiness. I was in between Milton and Durand. Milton was a thin frame (also they were tortoise shell/ not blue but i think they discontinued the tortoise shell ones which makes me sad because I still want them), and i was scared my watermelon head would devour them visually, so I went with Durand. I have worn them so much. I literally never wore my glasses before, but now theyre a statement to my style. They can literally make my outfit. They pull everything together. I go from tee-shirt and jeans, to cute-Normcore-2017-millenial-hipsternation-beauty. I literally love them. They even withstood my puppy chewing on them for a couple hours.
Altogether, I can see clearly now that warby parker has arrived. I thoroughly recomennd anyone reading to check them out, do a home try on, go to the store, or justlook at their amazing advertising campaigns.
