Style is so much fun for me. I think people forget how much an artform it is to put together an outfit. Its color coordination, contrast of fits, combining cultures, and just generally presenting your personality to the world. For some its the art of blending in, and for some its the dedication to standing out. Its not always easy either way. But what is easy is feeling sexy as hell when you walk out the door.
This GAP denim jacket is a simple classic, and it literally goes with everything. (I got this one on sale years ago but heres a link to one they still have in stock)
So one thing I try to do is live by the rule: Look good, FEEL GOOD. Have you ever found yourself having a bad day, then you look into the mirror and realize you were having a bad hair day. That's why... I truly believe when my life is all cattywompus, it stems from not looking good. SO to combat this, obviously I have to go shopping. Its a mental rehydration. A rejuvination of my MEAUX-JEAUX (MJ...get it?)
So Ive put together a few fall styles that I plan on rocking this fall. I went to the Tanger in San Marcos on Labor day and scored some sick deals. Check them out below, and always feel free to comment or let me know what you think or if you want to know where I Got something.
THE GYM
My style at the gym is slowly evolving. Having been only a year (and a half) into the game, I have had some time to finally build up some equiptment to help me on my journey. I have these Adidas running shorts that I wear for almost everything, and I normally pair them with a cut up tee shirt. However the most important piece that any gym-lover will buy is the shoes. It is very important to have good shoes that fit your regimen, so you can get the most out of your experience. The best brand that has always helped me with this is NIKE. So after slamming through a pair of NIKE's I found these lovelies (below), and don't think for a second that the shoes came first in the color situation. I most DEFF chose the shoe colors based on my Manna water containment device. Plus they were amazing training shoes, which should serve me very well in my PowerRow class.
Tipsy says she wants to be in the blog... PS I go these from the Outlet for $49.99, I think because they are last years. Because I could only find these online, and I think the ones I have were last years. Which is fine with me... I doubt anybody at the gym is going to be like "Those NIKE Air Trainers are SO last season"
Another thing I am working on is my style as a yogi. Yoga is my moment to stretch out, and break away to relax. I want my clothing to be able to do the same. It is a little easier to be more fun with this clothing but there are still things I have to think about. Especially with Aerial Yoga, because the silks can cause some serious pain when your up in the air. But these new Harem pants are literally the best. First of all I like that they are more like Man-Pris, rather than pants... because they're more versatile for this everchanging Texas weather. Also, they aren't too obnoxious. Harem pants are super cool but I seriously dont like looking like my diaper is full. So these simple pants paired with a comfy pink tee are going to be my new go-to.
And when I get a chance I am going back for the beige pair. Here is a link to both if you want to be like me and feel comfy as hell. $24.99...a little pricey but so worth it.
WERK BITCH
First off let me say that I hate the standards that people have for work clothing. I really hate that mens dress codes gets so monotonous. I think we should be able to look mature, without feeling hella uncomfortable. AND I always get frustrated because I consider myself an artist and I feel like I design better when I look cute as hell. BUT luckily my job is very understanding of dress code. I am finally able to be cute and still look like a mature adult. Below is the style I generally wear to work year-round. Its so easy for Hot and Cold days because the short sleeves are always comfortable, and they go easy with a nice jacket. AND with the right accesories you can make a cute statement. Or not...depends on who I have meetings with that day.
The saving grace this fall though will probably be these Grey pants. They're exactly the shade that I want to go with this winter. Color is a huge part of your style, and I think we are on a color revolution in the world of style. A lot of people are gravitating towards a more neutral palette with a lot of pastel pinks and light blues. and then to contrast. dark versions of that. I've seen a lot of Maroon and Mauve colors being pulled out lately as well. Personally, it depends on the outfit, but these pants go with all of it. Which is why they were a steal. (I probably will get them taken in though...I am short and I would love them a little tighter in the legs)
I wish they were a little tighter! But I will see how they do after a couple nights out, I really need to give them a test drive. But regardless the color goes with everything in my closet. $29.99
Perry Ellis Shirts literally rock my world. They are structured very well, and they also are quality shirts without the crazy price. The short sleeve button up shirts from H&M or Forever 45 are so horrible. These last. I need more.
I think this shirt can be used more than just alone. I could cover it with a denim jacket, or even ad a bandana like this if I really want to feel extra. I actually got it for $14.99, but its online for $29.99.
CASUAL
NOW ONTO THE FUN PART... My true style. How I wish I could dress every day. But the one thing I understand about style is: KNOW YOUR AUDIENCE. While I want to say "Other peoples opinions don't matter" And "Live your TRU LYF" The reality is that i want to be comfortable. Not just physically but mentally. And part of that is not always looking like the grain of salt in the pepper shaker. Like I said before, I love standing out, but there is an art to blending in that i find satisfying.
However on my days off, I get to choose. And more times than most I love being a little extra. I love having that edge that makes me feel like I personalized myself. I didnt just get up and put on clothes. I got up and GOT GORGEOUS. So here are a couple of new pieces I enjoyed spending money on.
This medium-length sleeve, over-sized sweater was on sale for $10 at Forever 21...Even though I don't know what "Alliance Division" is... I don't necessarily care. The Glasses are also Forever 21. They are a little more on the Bold side but I love buying fad stuff at Forever because they were only $7.50.
Thank you Forever 21. Though your men's section may be small, it is mighty. (Sometimes...Lets not get crazy)
THIS PURCHASE YALL... Let me start off with the back story. Years ago I was shopping at 2nd & Charles in Covington and I stumbled through this book in the art section. I had just got back from my 6 months working in Disney and I was in a huge depression so I opened it to find a handwritten quote in there. Someone must have gifted the book. But it said "We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things because we are curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths." Also the books artist was literally phenomenal. I fell in love with the polaroids of Madonna, Drag queens, Mothers, Cute guys, EVERYONE. Marisol was the biggist inspiration for me to get into polaroid photography.
SO, when I found this shirt in Forever 21 I HAD to get it. Its a tribute to art. Which combines exactly how I feel about style. I cant wait to wear this one.
Even Tipsy Approves. I cant find the link to the Men's Tee but ladies CHECK out this dress. LOVE.
Also Winter is a lovely time to be commfortable. I love wearing loose big clothes in winter, but what I find so hard is finding loose big sweaters for men. I always feel like its either TOO MUCH or not enough. BUT I stumbled across this workout poncho in the lady section in GAP. I love it. I love the hood, I love the material, and I can wear it to work out. OR I can wear it on a comfy day. I might even pair it with my black hat and wear it to work. Who knows?
Last but not least... This sexy pink jacket. OK! this one... I'm stupid... Learn from my mistakes. Don't assume that because you're at a cheap store, that everything will be cheaper here. I have seen these jackets around and I really wanted one. The pale pink is adorable. The denim is ALWAYS cute, and the style can be so much fun to play with. But I was in Rue 21...and I immediately decided to get it. It was only $32.99 HOWEVER... its Rue 21 crap quality, and I could've bought the same Jacket from Forever 21 or H&M for the same (If not cheaper) price. SO DUMB. But whatever... at the end of the day its still hella cute. And I don't know if you could tell but name brands don't mean anything to me. If it looks good, it looks good. I don't care if you got it from a thrift store or Louis Vuitton.
UPDATE: I couldn't find a similar jacket on H&M or Forever 21's websites. I know they've sold them before, but it may have been in spring. Regardless, its 50% off on the Rue 21 website. It is more of a spring color (Especially the way I used it here) but I have a couple plans for it. I want to start collecting patches from my travels and putting them on this jacket. I'll do a blog about it when I do.
WHO IS SHE?! *Flips hair* I also plan on wearing this with a black hoodie underneath, with black skinny jeans. to make it more fall.
Paired with this hoodie from PacSun...I bought years ago and yes it was like $50 bucks but it has lasted me years. PacSun is so expensive but they sure do last, and it hasn't really lost its cuteness.
So hope you all enjoyed this. Eventually I hope to get a tripod so I can take actual photos, but for now this is what I have to work with. And always feel free to comment. I'm always open to constructive criticism. I love talking about style and fashion. Hope you're all ready for fall.
